NETGEAR EXTENDER TROUBLESHOOTING :
1. UNABLE TO ACCESS NETGEAR RANGE EXTENDER GUI USING WEB ADDRESS HTTP://WWW.MYWIFIEXT.NET
SOLUTION : Make sure your extender is connected with your computer wired or wirelessly , open cmd & type ipconfig , to check ip address ,if ip address differs from default ip address 192.168.1.250 , reset your netgear range extender to factory default using paper clip , then try www.mywifiext.net to access netgear range extender gui , check your computer lan or wan adapters ip address , select automatically assign ip address and dns server option .ddisable active firewalls and security softwares like Kaspersky which block access to extender login default address ( www.mywifiext.net ) .
2. UNABLE TO GET INTERNET FROM RANGE EXTENDER AFTER CHANGING THE HOST ROUTER :
SOLUTION : if you change your host router , your extender will get disconnected , in this case simply do a reset on range extender using a paper clip & then reconfigure range extender using classic web address www.mywifiext.net , or you can use default ip address 192.168.1.250 , then place your extender in between dead zone area and your host router
3. NETGEAR RANGE EXTENDER FIRMWARE UPDATE :
To update netgear range extender firmware , connect your computer with extender using an Ethernet cable, then launch a web browser and type http://mywifiext.net in address bar of your browser , a login screen will appear ,default username is admin & password is password , click on advanced settings option , click on firmware update option , alternatively you can download latest firmware file from netgear download center support website , click on extract file ,update .bin file . in some cases , after updating extender firmware , netgear range extender settings might be lost , in such cases , reconfigure range extender with your existing host router .
4. CHANGED NETWORK NAME SSID OR PASSWORD ON HOST ROUTER , EXTENDER LOSES INTERNET CONNECTION
Netgear range extender amplifies range of your existing host router , if in case after initial setup of netgear range extender ,,you change settings(ssid and password) on host router ,your range extender will also get disconnected , in this case do a factory reset on netgear range extender using a paper pin ,and then reconfigure your extender with your host router , either by wps push button set up or by using netgear genie smart set up ,by using classic web address www.mywifiext.net or ip address 192.168.1.250
